Brought In 2015 by Catching a  Maryland State Record

Lee Haile III and his son, Eddie, are some hard core competitive anglers.  Last Friday, Jan 2, 2015, they headed out early from their home in Towson to a pond near Salisbury Maryland to fish for chain pickerel.  They had both caught and released a few nice ones when Lee’s line got tight.  He set the hook and the battle was on.  The fish had some strong runs pulling drag, going under the boat twice, and missing the net once before coming aboard. It was measured at 28 3/4″.

Lee has been fishing for the state record for over 30 years and knew this might be the one.  They left the water and headed to Conrad’s Crab and Seafood Market in Parkville, MD to have the fish weighed.  With all eyes on the scale it read eight pounds zero ounces.  Keith Lockwood officially certified this chain pickerel as a new Maryland State Record.  It beat the previous record of seven pounds, four ounces, held by Roy Molick Jr. in 1976.

    Congratulations Lee.
