Meat! It’s What’s for Dinner

Meat!!It’s What’s For Dinner!

oo24.jpg A few months ago I was visiting with a friend of mine who is a Hollywood movie star and he shared a story from one of his colleagues in the industry.  Apparently this guy said “why would you want to kill a helpless animal for meat when you can go to the grocery store?”  Really? Are you and idiot? How do you think that meat got there? We laughed hysterically, but it’s not an unusual story. 11aa.jpg

I have news for you. Milk doesn’t come from a carton and meat doesn’t come from a cellophane wrapped package. If you take a pill with a gelatin capsule, know that gelatin is a byproduct of cattle and pigs. What about tires on your car or bike? The rubber comes from byproducts of animals. Not to mention the many medicines we have to keep us well or alive –if we didn’t have animals, we wouldn’t have cures.

oo3.jpg Getting back to meat… meat found in a grocery store is pretty and red because of the preservatives in it. Furthermore, the animal was injected with steroids and hormones to grow at a faster rate and produce higher quality meat so the rancher could be more profitable. I’m not knocking the rancher at all, he’s gotta make a living, but I personally prefer dining on an animal that roamed free, never had a needle in him, stuck in a small enclosure and was God’s perfection intended for his children. To sum up Deuteronomy 12:15 you may slaughter your animals and eat as much of the meat as you want according to the blessing the LORD.

So let the ding-dongs of Hollywood think their meat comes from a store… as for me, I’m going hunting.

What other byproducts of animals are there that we depend on?
